This is the year to get licensed! The Drone License (officially: the Part 107 'Remote Pilot Certificate') is changing!
Important new privileges go into effect this year that EXPAND the flexibility of drone piloting!
NIGHT FLIGHT: On April 6, current drone pilots will be able to take a free online course from the FAA that
will allow them to fly at night! And NEW drone pilots who pass the FAA drone exam after April 6 will have night
flying privileges!
FLIGHT OVER PEOPLE: Around April 16, it will be legal to fly a drone over people and moving traffic! The FAA
has issued a rule that will allow drones that weigh under .55 pounds (and have no exposed blades) to fly over people.
In the future, larger drones will be qualified to do this.
